ABOUT ETERNAL FALLS AND PHOENIXES

A sailorEternal Falls

Below him there is no ground

Surrounding him there is no light

Expecting him there is no future

The end of the world is here

The eternal waterfall is seen

It’s the only glowing thing here

This is the place

where ships as big as dreams

disappear into complete oblivion

It doesn’t matter

if you have fought great battles and won

It doesn’t matter

if you have resisted the mermaids’ singing

It doesn’t matter

If you have torn the most terrible sea monster apart

This fate is the same for everyone

who has lived only to keep the body alive

and also for those who truly wanted

to change the world with ideas

but never had the chance to write them,

never had the chance to sing them,

never had the chance to spread them,

or never had the courage to take the chance

If only dreams were like a phoenix

Appearing from the bottom of nowhere below

The sailor would have held tight to the bird

as it came flying by

A sailor

Below him there is no ground

Surrounding him there is no light

Expecting him there is no future,

but, look! There is also a dim light of golden

and the heat of fire below

Unfortunately (?), a phoenix is as mythological

as this poem you are reading
